Fur Coat Restyling

Professional fur coat restyling in our Bucharest atelier. We modernise the cut, adjust the fit and update the lines for a contemporary silhouette, while preserving your valuable fur. In practice, we give a new life to a fur coat that has long been forgotten in your wardrobe. We work with mink, fox, lynx, sable and chinchilla, as well as other premium furs.

Restyling is done with an in-showroom fitting in most cases, to ensure correct proportions and comfort. *If you have already tried on another coat from our store and the fit is good, the fitting may no longer be necessary.

    Who fur restyling is for

Restyling is ideal if you like the material and the warmth the coat offers, but feel that the design is outdated or the proportions no longer flatter you. If the lines limit your mobility or the volume is no longer appropriate, we can update the silhouette while preserving the character of the piece. It is a good choice when the material is valuable and justifies the cost of the work, or when the coat has emotional value.

If the coat is structurally very damaged, we honestly discuss alternatives: a targeted repair + subtle adjustments, or a new bespoke piece made to your measurements.

    Our 5-step process

    1. Consultation & fitting – we assess fur quality and proportions on the body.
    2. Sketch & design direction – we define the desired model.
    3. Quote & plan – timeframe, cost and technical details; we only start after your approval of the quote.
    4. Execution in the atelier – controlled disassembly, reshaping, reassembly, refinishing. Fur SPA cleaning.
    5. Final fitting & delivery – any fine adjustments if needed; delivery in showroom or by courier.

Transparency: we clearly communicate the limits of the material and realistic outcomes before starting the work.

    Indicative prices and timeframes

The final price depends on the complexity of the work. We confirm the quote after examining the coat.

The duration varies according to complexity and the atelier’s workload. The best period for restyling is April–September.

Common styles and lines (short guide)

Straight – classic and versatile; highlights the fur’s texture. A-line – slightly flared, fluid, good for mobility. Fitted – emphasises the waist; not recommended when weight fluctuates frequently. Cropped – adds elegance, focuses on waist and sleeves.

Collar / hood: a stand-up collar offers thermal comfort and suits certain face shapes; a shawl or tailored collar gives elegance (a fox collar on a short-hair coat adds style). A hood is practical but adds volume and can accentuate a sporty look; it does not suit all designs and, depending on its shape/size, can make the coat heavier.

    Materials and sensitivities

Mink – very durable and versatile; can be cut in many shapes, warm; usually allows 2–3 restylings in the first ~25–30 years (depending on tanning).

Fox – large volume, very warm; more sensitive to wear than mink.

Lynx – natural pattern requiring meticulous matching; fine and light; holds up well over time and, due to its value, is worth restyling.

Sable – very fine and precious; warm and durable; because of its value, it is often worth restyling.

Chinchilla – extremely delicate; we intervene minimally, with hand finishing; restyling is done only if the material allows it.

Our proposals take these particularities into account to achieve a result that is aesthetic, wearable, durable and worthwhile.

    Guarantees and aftercare

We offer a 12-month warranty for restyling workmanship. The warranty covers workmanship defects and accessories (lining and trimmings); it does not cover natural wear, mechanical shock, improper storage or the inherent quality of the original material.

    • Final fitting and fine adjustments included
    • Recommendations for wearing and storage
    • Related services: Fur SPA cleaning, repairs

    If you are outside Bucharest

We can start with an initial photo/video consultation (description + 2–3 clear images of the piece on you). However, for accurate measurements and optimal results, an in-showroom fitting remains mandatory in most cases before execution.

    • Write to us at bianca@blana.ro with the subject “Restyling consultation” or on WhatsApp at 0727 22 52 62
    • Describe the changes you want and the reason (volume, length, mobility, style)
    • Send front/side/back photos, on a hanger and on you
    • We schedule a visit for fitting and offer confirmation

In most cases, yes. Restyling depends on body proportions and how the coat falls on you. Without a fitting, the risk of visual imbalance, wrong model choice or discomfort in wear increases.

It depends on the complexity of the work and the atelier’s workload. The best period is usually between April and September.

It depends on the condition of the material, the amount of usable fur and the new model chosen. We discuss realistic options and choose a modern design that remains structurally sound.

Yes. Restyling aims at both aesthetics and functionality. We adjust volume without compromising thermal protection.

Yes. After restyling that involves stretching on the board and extensive reshaping, we recommend Fur SPA cleaning to soften the coat and restore its fluffy look. In general, Fur SPA is recommended every 2–5 years, depending on colour and wear.
